Farnley Tyas Estates Event, Saturday 2nd July 2016

The Yorkshire and Humberside Schools' Orienteering Championships

including a series of courses for adults.

Organiser's Comments

Congratulations to all the children who competed on Saturday. Many are experienced orienteers and for many it was their first competition outside their school grounds. Medals are on their way to the first 3 in each year group for boys and girls. Certificates for everyone and trophies for the winning schools: Hunters Bar Juniors, Sheffield for the Primary School category and Kirkburton Middle School, Huddersfield for the Secondary School category. They will hopefully be presented in assembly so that more people can find out about our wonderful sport.

Thank you to everyone who supported this event; runners, parents, helpers, teachers, EPOC, Yorkshire and Humberside Orienteering Association and everyone involved with the Farnley Estate. Very special thanks to Emma Harrison for planning, Mike Pownall for liaison with the estate and producing the map, Alistair Tinto for a huge amount of IT work after we had the problems with the SI boxes and to Neil Conway for being the event controller. They all put in immense numbers of hours.

Any comments very welcome, lets try and make the Yorkshire and Humberside Orienteering Championships bigger and better every year.
