Kirklees Summer Sprint Series (MapRun) – Event 1 Huddersfield Town Centre

Event Info

Event 1 in the Summer Sprint Series using the MapRun app.

Each of the four events will have three sprint courses of approx 1-1.5km.
Do one, two or all three courses.
All three courses will be printed on the same A4 map so no need to return to assembly between courses, just upload your results, download the next course, input the pin number and make your way to the next start location.

Directions / Car Parking

Assembly, toilets and map collection at Huddersfield Leisure Centre, Spring Grove Street, HD1 4BP.

Parking available behind leisure centre and in Springwood car park. Please note many of the surrounding streets are permit holders only.
The leisure centre is 2 mins walk from the bus station.

Three courses of approx 1-1.5km (straight line distance).
Courses may contain loops with some controls visited more than once (your phone/watch may bleep multiple times at these controls until you move out of the circle, this is normal).
Please respect areas marked as out of bounds and do not attempt to cross any features marked as uncrossable.
The courses may cross residential and busy streets, please take care when crossing roads and watch out for vehicles.

Important Information

Safety and Risk: A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the organiser, but participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event.

Insurance: From 1st January 2026, participants who are not members of British Orienteering will no longer be covered by British Orienteering’s public liability insurance. By entering any event from 1st January 2026, you acknowledge that you are taking part at your own risk. For example, if you were to accidentally injure a member of the public or damage property during the event, you would not be covered. British Orienteering’s public liability insurance used to cover non-members at events before this date.
