YHOA Urban League Event

Event Details

Location:      Castle Hall Academy, Richard Thorpe Avenue, Mirfield, WF14 9PH

What 3 Words:  relieves.bares.gathers

Coordinates:   53.680144 - 1.688757       

Parking:  School car park, Crowlees Road and Westfields Road.

Assembly and download:  School car park.

Start:  7 minutes walk from assembly.

Finish:   On school field 1 minute walk from assembly/download.

Competitors MUST download even if they do not finish the course

Toilets:   There will be 2 portaloos at assembly.

Start times:  10:30 – 12:00

Courses Close: 2.00pm. If you expect to take longer then please start early. If you finish after courses close you will be disqualified.

Entries:  via Racesignup   Seniors £9   Juniors £5  Dibber Hire £1. Pupils and staff of School free.

Closing Date:  Entries close 23:59 Sunday 25 June.

To count in the YHOA Urban League , competitors must enter the appropriate course for their age group.

Map: Scale 1:4000 with 2.5m contours drawn and updated 2023 by Richard Payne.

Loose control descriptions will be available in start lanes.

Terrain:   Typical urban landscape with housing estates and a small park.

Safety:  A comprehensive risk assessment will be carried out by the organiser, but competitors take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety. All competitors who start must report to download even if they retire. In the unlikely event of cancellation, details will be posted on the EPOC website – www.eastpennineoc.org.uk Information can also be obtained by emailing the organiser.
If you have a medical condition that first aiders should know about in an emergency, please contact the organiser with details, before/at the event before your run, in confidence. These details will only be used for the purposes of this event and will be deleted/destroyed afterwards.

All competitors must download, even if they do not complete the course.

If the weather is wet some of the surfaces can be extremely slippery, so great care should be taken.

Insurance: Please note that if you are not a member of an orienteering club affiliated to British Orienteering then you are not covered by our public liability insurance except if you are a newcomer to orienteering, in which case you are covered for three registered orienteering events without joining. Please ask any of our club officials for more information if you would like to join EPOC.

Competitors should be considerate towards members of the public taking special care when rounding corners at speed.

Covid19:  The event will be organised in accordance with British Orienteering and Government Guidance in effect at the time of the event.
