Interesting technical challenges but physically easier than the longer courses (TD 4 & 3). Also suitable for experienced navigators who are new to night O
Very Short
1.6

Easy navigation and gentle terrain. Controls on or close to paths. (TD 2 & 1)
Terrain: Mainly mature woodland with an extensive path network. Also some open and semi open areas and some steep slopes visited by the longer courses. A few fields may be visited outside the woodland but all the area has clear physical boundaries (fences or walls) which must only be crossed at marked crossing points. Recent storm damage and clearance work has created isolated pockets of slower progress in otherwise runnable areas. These recent changes have not been mapped and are usually quite easy to avoid.
IMPORTANT NOTES on OOB and Uncross-able features.
Two of the steepest and roughest slopes have been affected by recent storms and will be over-printed as purple hatched Out-Of-Bounds on the map. These will NOT be marked on the ground.
There is one small stream very early in some courses which is marked as uncrossable. It is not marked on the ground but please do NOT attempt to cross it even if it looks crossable.

A comprehensive risk assessment will be carried out by the organiser. The risks associated with competing in an outdoor environment are significant and need to be taken seriously by all competitors who take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety. Parents are particularly asked to emphasise these points with their children. If you have a medical condition that first aiders should know about in an emergency, please contact the organiser with details, before/at the event before your run, in confidence. These details will only be used for the purposes of this event and will be deleted/destroyed afterwards.
